Stuck moon-boot causes car flip

A woman wearing a moon-boot is understood to have flipped her car into a garden after her foot got caught on the accelerator.

Apart from the previous leg injury the woman was not hurt in the accident which saw the car land on its roof.

A witness to the accident in Paraparaumu around midday Christmas Eve said the woman had hit another car before hitting the curb and flipping into the garden.

The car smashed through a fence before it flipped and landed in the backyard of a property on the corner of Rimu Road and Manawa Avenue.

A neighbour who heard the crash said when he arrived at the scene the woman was out of the car.

"We heard it and ran up the road to see that everything was okay," Jayden Parata said.

"The lady was out of the car, she had a moonboot and crutches and was otherwise ok apart from being in shock."

Parata understood the woman's moonboot got stuck near the pedals and she lost control.

"She was really lucky, it could have been a lot worse because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt," Parata said.
