A high school teacher struck off after hardcore porn was found on his work laptop has been working as a teacher in the United Kingdom - where he has again been the subject of a complaint.
For the first time, the New Zealand Teachers Council disciplinary tribunal has given Britain's General Teaching Council access to documents from a case it heard in 2006.
Included in the information released was a formal, written "admission" from the teacher about what happened here.
According to the original decision, the English teacher - whose identity has not been made public - was deregistered in New Zealand after he had written about his fetishes and published poems and stories online while working at a provincial school about four years ago.
Sexually explicit images were among material discovered in a review of the hard drive of the school's laptop.
The man admitted responsibility for the content, resigned from his job and sought deregistration.
It was claimed that the man was in the middle of an acrimonious divorce and his ex-wife was involved in the circulation of some material relating to the charge.
It was noted that no students or colleagues were involved and the teacher left New Zealand before his case was heard by the tribunal.
This week, it emerged that documents had been released to UK authorities.
It seemed the man had got full teacher registration in Britain but a complaint had been received and was undergoing investigation.
The information-sharing came to light when a New Zealand Teachers Council disciplinary tribunal decision dating from last December was made public.
The tribunal said that while a reciprocal arrangement to exchange information did not exist, its members would feel "justifiably aggrieved" if the situation was reversed and overseas authorities refused to release information to it.
