Wairarapa motocross enthusiasts should have been delighted with the strong showings by local riders at the New Zealand mini nationals held at Mangatainoka last weekend.
A total of 120 competitors participated over the two days with seven different classes operating in age groups ranging from 4-6yrs to 9-11yrs.
The track was set up along the river bank and was quite tight with some good jumps and corners ensuring the riders had to keep their wits about them.
Of the locals Braddick Hill was an impressive fifth overall in the 7-11yrs trail class and Luke McKay gave everything he had in placing ninth overall in the 9-11yrs 65cc class.
It was a typically committed effort from McKay who looks to have a bright future in the sport.
Hunter Jacobsen was impressive too in finishing 13th in the division two of the 6-8yrs class with Benjamin Murray also showing promise in placing 17th. These two boys have been contesting the North Island circuit this year and are showing the benefits of that experience.
The Wairarapa club have a meeting on December 7 with details covered on their website www.wmcc.org.
