Women's Refuge chief Merepeka Raukawa-Tait is under fire from within her organisation even after apologising for visiting a Wellington strip club.
The apology came after several refuge workers expressed a lack of confidence in her, some suggesting she resign.
The body that employs Ms Raukawa-Tait, the National Council of Independent Women's Refuges, is assessing complaints made by refuges about her behaviour.
Ms Raukawa-Tait said she was surprised her presence at the Mermaid strip bar in central Wellington on June 29 had caused comment but "I realise in hindsight that it was a mistake. I am sorry if I have offended some members of the public and a number of refuge workers."
She is considering standing for the Wellington mayoralty.
