KEY POINTS:
Air Nelson is to be hit by strike action over pay.
The airline, an Air NZ link company, was today issued a 14-day notice of stoppages by the Engineering, Manufacturing and Printing Union (EPMU).
Notice had been given for four three-day total strikes.
National secretary Andrew Little said the union had taken action because of what he called Air Nelson's repeated refusal to offer a "decent pay rise".
He added the breakdown of negotiations was a sign of wider-industry problems.
"The truth is the aviation industry is dominated by Air New Zealand which is (trying) to erode the terms and conditions of its workers."
Air Nelson workers' loyalty was unrewarded and the workers had had enough.
From May 1, Air Nelson engineers would refuse to work overtime and ground-handling staff would also ban overtime and refuse to load food freight.
Air Nelson flies Air New Zealand link services to Napier, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Tauranga and Nelson.
