Central streets in Te Awamutu have been cordoned off following the discovery of a suspicious object.
Details are scarce, but the "suspicious object" was found on Roche St shortly after 6pm today.
A police spokeswoman said residents are asked to avoid the area while the "situation" is handled by police.
