The elder of two teenagers charged with manslaughter after an illegal street race at Mt Maunganui went horribly wrong has had a second court appearance delayed until next month.
Remanded on bail when he came before Tauranga District Court the day race starter Scott Finn died, the 18-year-old was to have come back today.
However, the date has been moved forward to June 18, when he will join his 16-year-old co-accused in the Youth Court.
Police allege the defendant, who has interim name suppression, was the driver of a Mitsubishi VR4 which hit and killed 20-year-old Mr Finn at up to 160km/h.
The younger teen was allegedly driving a Honda Integra racing the VR4. His age means his name is automatically suppressed.
Both youths are facing manslaughter charges because they were parties to the death of Mr Finn about 1am on May 19.
They were bailed under strict conditions.
Dozens of young people had gathered for racing on a road in an industrial area near Tauranga Airport when the fatality happened.
