A jilted lover of rugby test streaker Lisa Lewis is trying to stop her auction of the bikini she wore, saying any proceeds should be his.
The 32-year-old Waikato truck driver, who does not want to be named, told the Waikato Times yesterday that the bikini, and the breasts it supported, were part of $82,000 he estimated he had spent on Ms Lewis before their relationship ended in December.
He said he had hired a lawyer to halt the auction on Trade Me until the rightful recipient of the proceeds had been determined.
Ms Lewis, 25, dashed on to the pitch wearing the bikini during the All Blacks-Ireland test in Hamilton on Saturday night. She decided to auction the bikini, but not before she was arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour.
She is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow - the same day the Trade Me auction is due to close.
Bids for the bikini had reached $1200 last night.
A Tauranga solo mum with an 18-month-old son, Ms Lewis said this week she was on a "first date" at the rugby test.
Her "streak" was one of a number of things she wanted to do before she died, and was inspired by her son's recovery from a stroke when he was 10 months old.
"It showed me he wanted more out of life and taught me to want more out life."
She yesterday rejected all the driver's claims. After saying she would seek legal advice, she said she had decided not to comment further.
The man said he spent more than $13,500 on breast augmentation - not counting accommodation costs - for Ms Lewis in Auckland last November. That was followed by further botox treatment at the same clinic.
"I was at the match and didn't notice it was her," he said. "But counting the boobs and bikini, she had over $15,000 worth of my [gifts] out there on the night."
Ms Lewis is already facing a claim of $3615 in the Disputes Tribunal in Tauranga brought by the driver. The amount relates to money he alleges she borrowed after the relationship ended.
"It made me physically sick that she had the audacity to sell the bikini bought on my credit card," he said.
In documentation filed with the Disputes Tribunal on May 3, Ms Lewis acknowledged the man gave her numerous gifts "including paying a total of $30,000 at least, for plastic surgery".
The driver said he regretted spending the money. During their relationship he said he was spending $7000 a week on her.
