A man was saved by rescue helicopter after he became stranded on a remote shoreline at Manakau Heads yesterday.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter said they received a call at 6.13pm, after a man became stranded on the waters edge on the southern side of the Manukau Heads in Auckland.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter crewman Mark Cannell said the man had jumped in the water with a friend and swam to the shore.
Although his friend managed to swim back to the boat, the man hurt his leg and was unable to get back, Mr Cannell said.
He said Police Eagle and Westpac Rescue were called in to rescue the man using specialist winch equipment, after those on board the boat were unable to get to him because of the conditions.
