Their "Roofliss" amphibious van made it across the Cook Strait.
Now, aeronautic machinists Adam Turnbull and Dan Melling are selling the DIY project they started to keep them out of Blenheim bars on auction website Trade Me.co.nz.
Accompanied through their epic journey by dolphins, supporters and music blasting from the "mean home theatre system", the pair crossed from the South Island to the North in 10 hours in their repurposed Toyota Townace.
Starting with a $1 reserve, the "Loveboatvan" was up to $1510 at 1.20pm Tuesday, after 74 bids and dozens of questions.
Bids close on Monday, September 14.
Their auction description attested to the power of the "only van you can't get done D.I.C in".
"This van is so rad, it once got a girl pregnant just from looking at it... Good for a spot of fishing. Marlins practically jump onboard, with the groupies."
The van is now in Auckland, where it was "doing the rounds", the two 23-year-olds said.
"We're off to the Viaduct for a cruise after work today. Come for a perv. Don't get in the way of the girls though."
