Zebong the Teller of Tales enthralled students at Douglas Park School with stories tall and true on Monday.
Zebong, aka Lewis Morgan, is a Hamilton storyteller who has been both capturing and liberating children's imaginations across New Zealand for more than two decades, since first hitting the road in 1993 aboard an old motorcycle as a professional storyteller.
The father of three adult children spent the day at Douglas Park School yesterday, in the morning taking a Writing for Reluctant Boys class "for boys who don't like to write" before leading the entire school on a shared adventure yesterday afternoon. He was today staging an interactive storytelling show at St Patrick's School in Masterton ahead of upcoming sessions in Wanganui and Taranaki.
"The kids at Douglas Park have been awesome. They were very keen to get up and act and were great listeners as well."
Morgan has been leading workshops and staging storytelling sessions in Wairarapa for the past 18 years, he said, and makes about four visits each year to schools in the region.
