Eighty-five Wellington homes remain without electricity, more than a week after a destructive storm knocked out power to much of the capital.
Wellington Electricity said due to the widespread nature of the storm, most suburbs within the region had customers affected by localised low-voltage faults.
"A significant number of customers have had power restored since the storm began last Thursday evening. Currently, we are aware of approximately 85 customers who remain without power," the lines company said in a statement.
"Unfortunately, many of the repairs needed were extensive and required a tremendous amount of technical work to repair small numbers of customers at a time. Our repair crews have made very good progress and all indications are that restoration of power supply to all remaining customers that we have received notification from, will be completed on Saturday.''
Up to 35,000 homes and businesses were left without power when the storm hit on the night of Thursday, June 20.
