KEY POINTS:
The P&O cruise ship Pacific Sun set sail from Auckland about 9 o'clock last night for an eight-day voyage to New Caledonia.
Last week, the vessel suffered damage when it rolled sharply in 7m swells about 600km north of Auckland. About 40 of the 1700 passengers and 671 crew needed to be treated for injuries.
A P&O spokeswoman said last night that "superficial damage" had been repaired and the ship had been cleared by Maritime New Zealand, and surveyors, to leave port.
