KEY POINTS:
A Nelson store owner threw his cash register at a teenager robber who held a bottle to his face at the weekend.
Terrance Sharpe said today he decided that "enough was enough" when the robber walked into his Suburban Store on Tahunanui Drive on Saturday evening.
He first saw the youth standing with his back to the counter.
When he turned around, wearing a hoodie and sunglasses, he held a broken bottle to his face and demanded money, Mr Sharpe told the Nelson Mail.
He gave him money and the youth then demanded cigarettes, and that's when Mr Sharpe threw the till at him.
It hit the youth who fled but was caught by police 10 minutes later.
Sergeant Tod Kirker, of Nelson police, said a 15-year-old had been charged with aggravated robbery and was to appear in Youth Court.
Mr Sharpe, who only moved to Nelson from Wellington three weeks ago, said the incident had left him and his wife shaken and upset.
