A fellow prison inmate is warning paedophile and one-time Christian Heritage leader Graham Capill to stop "moaning" about his treatment in jail.
A letter leaked last week detailed complaints from Capill about his treatment at Christchurch's Rolleston Prison.
The letter, meant for prison officials, claims guards were picking on Capill, not allowing him enough time on computers to study for university papers, not giving him asthma medication, not doing photocopying necessary for his studies and denying him the opportunity to receive his children's diaries from his wife.
Sources have said disgruntled guards may be responsible for leaking the letter.
The Corrections Department is investigating to see if staff were involved in the letter's release.
Capill was imprisoned in July for rape, sexual violations and indecent assaults on girls aged between five and 11 that occurred over a span roughly coinciding with his leadership of the Christian Heritage Party.
A Rolleston inmate has attacked Capill in a letter.
"Let me give you some home truths. Capill only spent a month of a nine-year sentence in the protection unit at Paparua ... then came straight to the low-security unit at Rata," he said.
"I've been studying at Massey University for the previous three years, all paid for on student loan, and can assure you we all have difficulty with photocopying and seeing the tutor. But once again we all get through."
He said Capill's complaints were "unjust".
"No one I know at visits is allowed to take diaries or swap papers. There is unlimited time to study in our cell. If [Capill] carries on with his moaning he will find we will all suffer with the resulting consequences," he said.
The Corrections Department said it had not finished its investigation.
