A police car stolen from a checkpoint in Hamilton in the early hours of today has been found.
The Holden Commodore Executive station wagon in full police livery, registration number DMZ752, was driven away by someone between 2.20am and 2.45am from a checkpoint in Memorial Drive, central Hamilton.
Senior Sergeant Kevin Anderson from Hamilton Police told NZPA the car had been found in Matangi, 11km east of Hamilton.
"The car was reported found at 7.30am. It was parked in a street in a rural part of the Waikato."
Mr Anderson said the car had not been damaged, and was in a good condition.
Police are investigating.
