KEY POINTS:
Some of the bronze plaques stolen from Purewa Cemetery in Auckland last month have been found stashed in a bag under the chapel in the grounds.
Police are still on the lookout for more than 350 of the commemorative plaques, and have urged anyone dealing in scrap metal to contact them if they are approached with an offer of cheap bronze.
About 400 plaques were stolen from a commemorative wall at the cemetery between March 16 and 17.
Sergeant Phil Richardson, of Newmarket police, said next of kin connected with the recovered plaques were being contacted.
