A dog stolen from Auckland SPCA earlier this week and needing medical attention has been found and returned.
Auckland SPCA animal manager Rachel Green said the dog was found yesterday morning by a man who lived a few blocks from the SPCA in Mangere.
"The man said he had gone out to get his mail and found the dog shaking beside his letter box. He thought the dog needed medical care and brought it to us," she said.
The dog - an adult sharpei - had had a previously broken leg and an eye condition needing medication.
Miss Green said the dog looked very tired and wet. It was given its medication immediately and was resting.
An adult and a puppy sharpei were missing from the SPCA's quarantine kennels on Tuesday morning after the back door had been smashed in.
The SPCA was particularly concerned for the adult sharpei because of its condition.
Miss Green said there was still no word on the whereabouts of the puppy.
