Stolen car dumped in water in Katikati

A car that went into the water in Katikati with the horn sounding was dumped on purpose, police say.

Emergency services were called to the end of Beach Rd, Katikati, about 7.45am after reports of a car in the water.

Initially it was unclear if anyone was inside, however after attending the scene police confirmed that it had been stolen and dumped in the water.

There was no one inside.
