KEY POINTS:
Police are attending a scene where a cattle stock truck and trailer unit has rolled, blocking State Highway 3, near Wanganui.
Sergeant Mark Oliver from central police communications said the accident happened at the intersection with Marahau Rd, near Maxwell, 26km north west of Wanganui, about 11.25am.
Police and other emergency services are at the scene attending to wandering stock.
A number of the cattle have had to be destroyed on the advice of a vet, Mr Oliver said.
