A stingray that bit a boy's finger at Sea World on the Gold Coast will keep its place in the theme park's interactive exhibit.
The six-year-old was bitten on a middle finger at the Ray Reef exhibit on Sunday, Sea World's director of marine sciences Trevor Long said.
The boy's wound was treated by a Sea World nurse and he was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Mr Long said the exhibit opened in 2009 and the stingray bite was the first injury of this nature.
"Marine Sciences staff have inspected the inhabitants of the exhibit and it will remain open to park guests,'' he said in a statement.
