Five tonnes of molasses is oozing on to a rural Waikato road after a truck's trailler rolled near Otorohanga this morning.
Fire and Emergency northern shift communications manager Jaron Phillips said firefighters were dealing with a sticky situation after the truck-and-trailer crashed at Ngahape, spilling nearly half the cargo.
The equivalent of 10,000 jars of molasses was leaking from the trailer on to Ngahape Rd.
Firefighters from Te Awamutu were working to make the scene safe.
The truck was carrying 14 tonnes of molasses at the time of the crash.
