Steak pies recalled over bones

Steak pie products made by Gourmet Foods in Tauranga are being recalled because of contamination with pieces of bone.

The company said the products with use-by dates from May 7-24, should not be eaten.

The recall included steak, steak and cheese, steak and mushroom, steak and vegetable, beef and bacon, pasties, low fat steak and cheese, pepper steak, and steak tomato and cheese.

It affected both Pat's Pantry and Ponsonby Pie products.

Consumers should return the products to the retailer for a refund, the company said.
