On Saturday, March 17, boating education will be combined with sea safety day at the On-the-Water Boat Show. Running from 10 am to 4 pm, the exercise will include marine retailers, the Coastguard Boating Education Service, WaterSafe Auckland, the police marine unit and Auckland Regional Council's maritime team.
Members of the public can have their lifejackets tested as part of a display at Safety at Sea in Gaunt St. WaterSafe board member and Safety at Sea chief Lloyd Klee says he is organising prizes for the oldest jackets presented for testing.
Coastguard memberships and boating education courses will be available, with deals for people signing up on the day as well as on-the-hour safe boating quizzes organised by WaterSafe.
