The Government has announced a review to consider extending the State Sector Retirement Savings Scheme.
Currently the generous superannuation scheme is open to staff at the 35 public service ministries and departments, public and state-integrated schools, free kindergarten associations and a small collection of other government entities.
State Services Minister Annette King said a group had been asked to report on the costs and processes required for any extension of the scheme to more organisations in the wider state sector.
The working party was expected to report by September 15 next year.
The working party, to be chaired by former Council of Trade Unions secretary Angela Foulkes, is mainly made up of public sector union and employer representatives.
