State Highway 2 closed as truck and cargo cleared

A section of State Highway 2 between Napier and Wairoa is closed until midday while a crashed truck and its cargo are removed, police say.

The road was closed at 10am today so cranes could access the site.

Motorists have been told to avoid the area as there would be delays.

The truck went off the road halfway between Putorino and Kotemaori at about 4pm yesterday. No one was injured.
