All lanes on State Highway 16 north of Kumeu have re-opened and congestion is now easing.
Both lanes were closed for several hours after two trucks collided just before 8am this morning.
Two people were critically injured and a third was seriously injured in the crash that closed the motorway.
Sixty litres of diesel was spilled onto the road and contractors and emergency services have now cleaned the site.
