A person in a serious condition was taken to Palmerston North Hospital following a single vehicle crash on State Highway 1 near Marton.
A St John representative said one ambulance, a manager and a rapid response unit responded to the scene at 10.20am on Friday, May 20.
One patient was treated at the scene and transported to hospital in a serious condition.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said due to the crash, State Highway 1 had been closed between the Kakariki Rd and Wellington Rd intersections.
A police representative said power lines were down on the road.
