Entries are now open for the newest running and walking event on the Wairarapa calendar, the Tora Coastal Challenge.
The challenge will be held on Saturday, September 6, and features a 6km or 18km run/walk or a 32km run/team relay run. It will see participants cover the scenic route, theTora Coastal Walk, walked by hundreds of visitors every year.
Event manager Rachael Fletcher said there has been huge interest in the event from people all over New Zealand.
"Since announcing the event, we've been overwhelmed by the response from people and would now encourage them to enter to secure a spot in the event," she says.
"The Tora Coastal Challenge has really captured people's interest.
"It's the first time the track has been opened to the public in this way, allowing them access to previously inaccessible stunning farmland and native bush along the spectacular South Wairarapa coastline."
All ages and abilities are catered for during the one-day event while all profits go to The Martinborough Community Centre Project.
All participants start at the new Stony Bay Lodge on the Tora Coast, which is a 45-minute drive from Martinborough.
The challenge features a family-friendly 6km leg that follows the coastline, while the three-person team event is perfect for corporates wanting an office challenge or a group of friends wanting to tackle something new.
Entries are limited to 100 teams and 400 individuals.
