Tinui horsewoman Morgan Percy is contesting the national showjumping championships in Christchurch this week on her star charge Surprise Illusion and they are all set to give a strong account of themselves.
In what was their final dress rehearsal before heading south Percy and Surprise Illusion won the one star Pony Grand Prix at the Dannevirke A&P Show last weekend.
They were in a field of 23 with six combinations going clear in the qualifying rounds and going forward to a jumpoff where Surprise Illusion was the only competitor to complete a second clear round.
Kalah McKay from Levin was second on Kabo So Far and Nicole Watson from New Plymouth third on Mr Brumby.
Percy and Surprise Illusion will stay on in Christchurch after the nationals to compete at the three star Canterbury show jumping championships the following weekend.
