"Considering that this lab is right in the middle of a residential area, the dangers of their actions are unable to be described," Mr Wakelin said.
"They're putting themselves and their neighbours at risk.
"If that place had blown up, apart from the initial explosion, there would have been chemicals everywhere.

Orakei councillor Cameron Brewer, who lives on Gowing Dr said the P Lab on his street was "news to me."
"We were up at 5am thanks to our toddler, but had no idea what was going on down the street.
"Just goes to show you don't know what goes on even in middleclass Meadowbank these days.
He said he hoped this was an isolated case, and Meadowbank was a "lovely family suburb."

Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Saunders said investigations and scene examinations were still continuing at the property.
"The site has been secured by police and other emergency services but we would still ask residents to please avoid coming too close to the scene until all examinations are complete," he said.
An animal control officer was later seen carrying a young black puppy from the house.
Police and the Fire Service said chemicals in the house indicate it was an active clan lab.
All staff involved in the operation - and those arrested - were decontaminated.
Gowing Drive, a quiet leafy street in the heart of Meadowbank, has since been reopened.
