KEY POINTS:
An objector to the proposed waterfront stadium has questioned the veracity of consultants' reports which back the venue.
Susan Grimsdell, an apartment owner whose harbour view would be affected by the stadium, yesterday dismissed the transport, noise and urban design reports released by the Government as putting the best possible light on the project.
The transport report, prepared for the Ministry of Economic Development by consultants Traffic Design Group, stated that there was "ample" parking, with around 50,000 spaces already available within the central motorway ring. Ms Grimsdell said that might be the case, but 30,000 of them were probably business and residential and "they are not available".
The transport report also revealed that tight traffic restrictions would be required to deal with large crowds arriving and departing the waterfront stadium.
Ms Grimsdell also questioned the noise report, in particular the pile-driving sounds which will occur when the stadium's platform is built.
"They say it's an ideal location - I strongly disagree with that."
She said the urban design report was simply full of "waffly, meaningless words".
