Stabbing in Papakura puts man and woman in hospital

A man is in a serious condition and a woman has moderate injuries, following a stabbing in South Auckland.

It is believed to have happened at the southern end of Ron Keat Drive near Massey Park.

Senior Sergeant Danny Hodson said St John Ambulance told police about the stabbing just after 4pm.

"At this point in time police believe this is a domestic-related incident," Hodson said.

"A male has received a stab wound to the abdomen and is in a serious condition. A female has also received moderate injuries."

Both were taken to Middlemore Hospital.

The alleged offender fled the scene but has since been arrested in Manurewa, police said.

Charges would not be laid until the morning but the person remained in custody, a police spokeswoman said. Police were still speaking with witnesses.
