A 23-year-old Masterton man appeared in Masterton District Court yesterday on a charge of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to a 48-year-old man, who was hospitalised on Tuesday after an alleged assault in which he sustained three stab wounds to his buttocks.
Kerry Godfrey did not enter a plea and his solicitor Louise Elder did not apply for bail, asking instead for Godfrey to be remanded in custody for three weeks to allow police to provide disclosure. Godfrey had initially been charged with assault using a weapon.
The injured man was taken to Wairarapa Hospital after the alleged assault, which police said happened during an argument.
The victim did not receive life-threatening injuries.
