A man has been discharged from hospital after a Friday night stabbing in which an artery in his cheek was sliced open.
The man was bleeding profusely when police arrived just before midnight outside a bar on Egmont St, New Plymouth, said Sergeant Bruce Irvine.
Police did what they could to stop the bleeding before an ambulance arrived and took him to Taranaki Base Hospital, where he spent the weekend getting stitched up.
Police were looking for a young, slim man who was in the company of a young woman, in connection with the incident.
