Acts of random kindness have been lifting spirits in and around St Teresa's Catholic Primary School in Featherston.
Principal Karolina Surynt-Tapiki said junior students last week made bunches of paper daffodils, which on Friday they planted in a garden at the front of their school.
She said Christine Lister and Catherine Tait organised the creation and display of the daffodils as a contribution from the students to the Cancer Society of New Zealand annual Daffodil Day drive and as an essential lesson about awareness of the plight of others.
"We've called it our garden of hope and it was a lovely little touch to plant the flowers they made. It really was wonderful."
On Monday, Year 7 and 8 teacher Carrie Watson led the senior students in Random Acts of Kindness lessons and activities as part of the Hands of Christ programme at the school, which aims to "put our values in to action".
