St Patrick's School in Masterton has won the inaugural Junior Neighbourhood Support Golden Shears contest.
JNS co-ordinator Sarah Taylor-Waitere said the contest, held alongside the Masterton District Council, involved six schools that also included Lakeview School, which took second place, Fernridge School, third, Masterton Primary School, St Mary's School and Carterton School.
She said the early childhood section of the contest was won by York Street Kindergarten and also featured entries from Lansdowne Kindergarten, Masterton Christian Childcare Centre, Ko Te Aroha Early Childhood Centre and Masterton West Kindergarten.
Pupils were asked to design and decorate a cut-out silhouette sheep and their entries were displayed in the Masterton Town Square yesterday.
The winners received a certificate as part of their prizes.
