St Matthew's Collegiate will feel the heat when matches in Netball Wairarapa's premier one inter-club competition continue tomorrow.
They will confront unbeaten Harcourts at the Colombo Road courts and while the students have made steady improvement as the season has progressed they are very unlikely to halt the Harcourts juggernaut.
Nothing better exemplifies the dominance of Harcourts than statistics. They have won six from six and scored a massive 380 goals while conceding 121.
The second highest number of goals in premier one play goes to Sports Arena Carterton with 227 while the second lowest of numbers of goals conceded is St Matthew's 177.
That latter situation does at least suggest that St Matthew's defence has been working well and they will certainly need that to be the case against a Harcourts side which has players of the calibre of Hope Phillips and Kelly Sargent spearheading a formidable attacking unit.
The other premier one match at the Colombo Road courts tomorrow has Sports Arena Carterton up against Wairarapa College and recent history would suggest this too should be rather one-sided with Sports Arena Carterton calling the shots.
Wairarapa College are, however, a much better side than their current form might indicate and if they can get their best line-up on the court for most of tomorrow's game an upset is not entirely out of the question.
Monday evening's premier one matches at the Genesis Recreation Centre have Salute Greytown playing Carterton Red and Gladstone All Blacks taking on Kuranui College.
Carterton Red have yet to chalk up a win this season and will be eyeing Salute Greytown as perhaps one team they can trouble. Greytown should win but are hardly in the certainty category
The scenario is pretty much the same for Kuranui College and Gladstone All Blacks with Kuranui clearly having the upper hand form-wise but Gladstone All Blacks having enough experience and skill to catch them on the hop.
St Matthew's to feel heat from Harcourts
