A Catholic brother jailed for sexually abusing boys is appealing his sentence.
Rodger Moloney was found guilty of seven counts of abuse dating back to the 1970s when he was head of Maryland's Special School in Christchurch.
He was sentenced to two years and nine months on seven charges of sex abuse when he appeared in the High Court at Christchurch on August 1.
The Court of Appeal yesterday confirmed an appeal against Moloney's sentence had been lodged.
The charges related to boys in Moloney's care when he was head of Christchurch's Marylands special school during the 1970s.
It took six years, 125 complaints and more than $5.1 million in compensation to wrap up the investigation into abuse at the school.
