A fire that was rapidly spreading down a cliff in swanky Auckland suburb St Heliers has been extinguished.
Earlier today, the fire at Achilles Point was rapidly spreading down a cliff face at Achilles Point, in the waterfront East Auckland suburb.
A fire spokeswoman said one crew at the scene was having difficulty extinguishing the blaze, due to it being in a hard to reach location, and had requested backup.
Two other fire engines were heading to the scene.
