New Zealanders are today being encouraged to carry out a random act of kindness to improve someone else's day.
Co-founder Megan Singleton says Random Act of Kindness Day is about lifting the kindness temperature of the country by making someone else's day a little bit better.
Ordering a pizza for your local fire station or paying for a stranger's coffee are two of the suggested things people can do to participate.
Singleton says some participants are giving a bottle of wine to neighbours they have not met, are paying for the next person's coffee in a cafe or are distributing flowers.
Singleton says shopping malls and city councils across the country are also getting behind the day.
She suggests people let their guard down and get involved in any of the "feel good" promotions they come across.
