KEY POINTS:
Food workers and cleaners at the country's hospitals have returned to work, but say it is not the end of strike action.
Around 800 employees of contracting company Spotless walked off the job yesterday, claiming the company has not paid them a promised wage increase. The union says the DHBs agreed to paying a base rate of $14.25 per hour nine months ago. It says other contractors in the sector are getting the pay rise but Spotless workers are not.
They have returned to work but Jill Ovens, Service and Food Workers Union northern region secretary, says more strike notices will be issued as the union keeps the pressure on the company and DHBs.
