Sportscafe shutting doors after 10 years

TVNZ's Sportscafe show is calling it quits after 10 years.

TVNZ says this year's season will be the last. The decision was made after talks with the producers of the show, Leftfield Productions.

"Hyundai Sportscafe broke new ground in NZ television. It has been a fantastic local show with an excellent record," said TVNZ head of programming Annemarie Duff.

Programme host Ric Salizzo said this year had seen the highest ratings for the show, so in a Sportscafe sort of way it was the obvious time to bring down the final curtain.

"We have been doing the same four jokes for 10 years now and it's good to finish while someone is still laughing at one of them."
