Regular sports exchanges with other colleges are a traditional feature of Wairarapa College's programme of events. The latest tournament was against Central Hawke's Bay on August 17 at home.
The exchange involved a huge number of students and a variety of teams. Rugby, hockey, soccer, netball, basketball, clay-bird target shooting, badminton and theatre-sports were all on the agenda.
It was a great day for Wairarapa College, who took the honours in all matches bar one. The closely-fought competition in clay-bird target shooting ended in victory for Central Hawke's Bay.
Ashley Peterson, Sports Co-ordinator at Wairarapa College, extends his thanks to Tony Browne for allowing the use of the Wairarapa College Hostel dining room as a venue for the afternoon tea. He is also grateful to the many members of the community who agreed to be match officials. The exchange couldn't have gone ahead without you.
Thank you also to Sandra Oliver, Eileen Jackson and Yolanda van Vliet, as well as students Cara Potter and Jane Brun, who helped to cater for this massive exchange. Well done to all the students who took part.
Sports exchange a rousing success
