Five-year-old Billee White-Hannon could scarcely believe her luck when her wishes were granted by the Make-a-Wish Foundation yesterday.
Not only was her family gifted a Maui campervan, it was hand-delivered by her favourite cartoon character SpongeBob Squarepants.
Billee, who has acute myeloid leukaemia, wished for a family holiday in a campervan travelling around the North Island to see her friends and family.
Her mother Saffron said "Billee's been stuck in the hospital for so long ... And she loved SpongeBob, so we thought we'd get him to give the van to her."
The foundation said the wish was granted urgently because Billie was unwell. The trip will be co-ordinated so that she is never far from a hospital - Billie is under palliative care so time is of the essence.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is run by the Sovereign Trust through Ronald McDonald House.
