A cream spill has caused the closure of a lane of State Highway One in Northland.
Police said the 500m truck spill had created a "strip of creamy and extremely slippery road".
The northbound lane of SH1 on the Brynderwyn Summit South has been closed and traffic is being redirected into SH12 onto Paparoa Oakleigh Rd, continuing into Paparoa and Mangapai Rd before exiting onto SH1 again.
The southbound lane is still open to traffic but motorists are being warned to drive with care.
