The Alcohol Drug Helpline has been inundated with calls in recent months about synthetic cannabis.
Seven people died this month alone in Auckland after using an unknown form of the illegal drug.
That prompted police and the chief coroner to issue an unprecedented public warning last Friday.
The helpline's chief executive officer Andrew Slater said there had been a 100 per cent increase in calls relating to synthetic cannabis between April and June this year, compared to the same period last year.
And he said, it was continuing to rise.
