German sportscar-maker Porsche has named its new off-road vehicle the Cayenne, after the pepper from French Guiana.
But in Porsche's case the name is a synonym for spiceiness and adventure.
"We are convinced that the combination of Porsche and Cayenne as a model designation radiates true strength, dynamism, fascination and emotions and will continue the great tradition of legendary names," said Dr Wendelin Wiedeking," the chairman of the Porsche board of management.
Wiedeking said Porsche stuck to its policy of not concocting names for its cars. The Carrera, for example, is the Spanish word for "race."
The Cayenne will be built at a new factory in Leipzig, Germany. Porsche aims to sell 25,000 units annually.
