It could be 18-months before the ongoing battle in Auckland between Western Spring Speedway promoters and local residents is resolved.
An independent commissioner's report has been released and recommends the speedway restricts activity to a maximum of two practice days and 12 events per season. A spokesperson for the Residents' Association says the report seems extremely fair and it is good to see their concerns finally addressed.
However Western Springs Speedway promoter Dave Stewart says they are just recommendations and will need to be tweaked.
The Auckland City Council now has to adapt a new policy from the report and gain resource consent which could take more than a year.
