Thousands of fans flocked to Western Springs stadium on Saturday night for perhaps the last speedway meeting.
Noise restrictions were lifted in exchange for the promoter cancelling the remaining five meetings of the season.
A High Court appeal over noise levels will be heard in about three months to determine its future.
Auckland City Council, which has staunchly defended the speedway, has changed its contract with the promoter in the hope of enabling the speedway to win the appeal.
